Twenty days, three islands and a LOT to fit in. This is Bali for travellers who want to see more, stay longer and throw themselves into pretty much everything along the way. Learn to surf in Seminyak, take on white water rapids in Ubud and spend your days snorkelling around the Gili Islands in search of sea turtles. You’ll explore sacred temples, rice terraces and waterfalls, slow things down with sunset yoga and swap Bali for Lombok’s beaches before settling into island life on Gili T. But some of the best days are the ones that give something back. You’ll support turtle conservation, spend time volunteering with a local community project and learn about the care of Gili T’s horses. Add gorgeous hotels, plenty of free time and a group to share all 20 days with, and you’ve got one seriously good way to experience Indonesia.

Itinerary

From sunrise surf to sunset hangs, your Bali days are packed with unforgettable moments. Here’s the lowdown.

Day
13
Kuta Mandalika
Straight to Selong Belanak
Today’s destination is Selong Belanak, and honestly, this is exactly what you came to Lombok for. Think a huge stretch of white sand, turquoise water and green hills wrapping around the bay. We’ve got the day to enjoy it properly, and there’s no need to rush a second of it. Stretch out on the sand and cool off in the sea. If lying still isn’t really your thing, you can hire a surfboard or paddleboard and head out onto the water instead. When hunger eventually wins, there are local spots nearby serving Indonesian food, plus plenty of fresh coconuts to keep the beach-day mood going. We could definitely get used to Lombok life!

Gili T
Two Wheels, One Island
We’re saying goodbye to Lombok today, but don’t worry, the next island is a pretty good reason to leave! We’ll hop on a boat and make our way across to Gili Trawangan, where island number three is ready to show us what it’s got. Once we arrive, we’re not wasting much time. We’ll pick up our bikes at the harbour and set off for our first look around the island. Cycle along the coast, pass stretches of beach and start getting your bearings as we make our way around Gili T. It won’t take long to see why people end up wanting to stay here longer than planned. For now, consider this your introduction. We’ve got plenty more Gili T to come!

Gili T
Say Hello to the Horses
We’ve got some very different travel companions joining us this morning, and they’ve got four legs! We’re off to Horses of Gili to spend time with the island’s horses and learn more about their care, wellbeing and place in everyday island life. You won’t just be learning about them from the sidelines either. You’ll have the chance to spend time with the horses, helping to brush and walk them while learning more about their daily care from the people who know them best. It’s a chance to get properly hands-on, spend time with some of Gili T’s most important residents and understand just how much goes into keeping them happy and healthy.

Gili T
Your Gili T Wish List
By now, you’ve had a few days to get to know Gili T, but there’s still plenty left to try. Today is completely free, which means you can finally get around to anything that’s caught your eye since you arrived. If you fancy heading back onto the water, scuba diving, kayaking and paddleboarding are all great options, especially with so much marine life hiding beneath the surface. Or, for something a little slower, join a traditional Balinese yoga or meditation class and give those legs a break after all the cycling and exploring. Your guide can help with the optional activities available, but there’s absolutely no pressure to fill the day. You’re on Gili T after all. Doing very little is a perfectly acceptable plan too!

Gili T
The Gilis From Below
You’ve spent the last few days getting to know Gili T from dry land, but some of the best bits around here are hiding underwater. Today, we’re heading out by boat to snorkel our way around the neighbouring islands and see just how much life there is beneath the surface. Around Gili Meno, we’ll jump in at Bounty Reef Garden. You’ll snorkel amongst marine life and explore the remains of a sunken pontoon wreck beneath the surface. With colourful fish around the reef and the sunken pontoon to explore, this definitely isn’t your average snorkelling spot. We’ll also make our way to Gili Air, stopping for some time on the island and a chance to grab lunch before heading back into the water. The reefs around the Gilis are known for sea turtles, so keep those eyes peeled while you snorkel. By the time we’re heading back to Gili T, you’ll have seen a whole new side to the islands and hopefully met a turtle or two along the way.

Gili T
One Last Gili Sunset
Somehow, we’ve already reached our final full day on Gili T, so make this one count! Head back to your favourite beach, claim a spot by the pool, wander around the island or squeeze in anything you haven’t quite got around to yet. As the afternoon rolls on, make your way towards the west side of the island, where you’ll find some of Gili T’s best sunset spots. Find somewhere comfortable, grab a drink and settle in as the sun starts to disappear over the water. After a few days calling this little island home, there are definitely worse ways to spend your final evening here!

Weather

No matter when you visit, Bali shines all year round. Expect warm temperatures, tropical scenery and plenty of sunshine. From April to October, the dry season brings temperatures of 27–32°C, along with blue skies, calm seas and ideal conditions for beach days, island hopping, snorkelling and Bali's famous surf breaks. Visiting between November and March? You'll still enjoy warm temperatures of 26–31°C, with the occasional tropical downpour keeping the island lush and green. The rain usually passes quickly, leaving plenty of time to get back out exploring, while quieter beaches and fewer crowds let you experience a more relaxed side of Bali.

Getting There

Starts

Your Bali Island Hopper begins at Bali Denpasar Airport (DPS). We recommend booking a flight that lands between 9:00am and 5:00pm on Day 1, where your local guide will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a FurtherTravel sign (you won't miss them!). If possible, we'd recommend arriving earlier in the day to give yourself time to settle into the hotel before the evening orientation and your first night with the group. Please note that Bali's traffic can be unpredictable, so we don't recommend arriving too late. If your flight arrives outside of the recommended pickup window, you'll need to make your own way to the hotel. Don't worry though – your local guide will be on hand in the group chat to help you arrange this. Arriving a day early? Let us know! We'd be happy to recommend somewhere to stay near the airport. You can then either return to the airport during the pickup window or meet the group at the hotel.

Ends

Your Bali Island Hopper finishes at your hotel in Seminyak on Day 20. We recommend booking a flight that departs after 12:00pm on your final day, giving you plenty of time to check out and make your own way to Bali Denpasar Airport (DPS) after your final night celebrating with the group. If you're continuing your travels, Bali is also a great place to extend your adventure, so feel free to ask us for recommendations before you go!

FAQ's
Money
The local currency in Bali is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). ATMs are widely available in towns and tourist areas, and most shops, restaurants, and hotels accept cards, though smaller markets and rural areas often prefer cash. It’s a good idea to carry a mix of cash and cards to cover meals, drinks, souvenirs, and optional activities. For convenience and to avoid high foreign exchange fees, many travellers use a travel card such as Wise or Revolut. This allows you to pay in local currency with minimal charges, and you can also withdraw cash from ATMs if needed.
Best Time to Travel
Bali enjoys warm tropical weather all year round, making it a great destination no matter when you visit. The dry season runs from April to September, offering plenty of sunshine, while the wet season from October to March brings short, refreshing tropical showers that rarely last all day. Even during the wet season, you can expect warm temperatures and plenty of opportunities to explore beaches, rice terraces, and temples. No matter when you travel, our tours are designed to make the most of the local weather, so you’ll always enjoy a mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation.
Volunteering
On your Bali adventure you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of volunteer projects. Depending on the tour you choose, this could include teaching English at a local school in Ubud, supporting a turtle sanctuary to protect and care for these incredible creatures, or visiting a horse sanctuary on Gili Trawangan to learn about animal care and rehabilitation. All volunteering experiences are carefully selected to be ethical, educational, and meaningful. They give you the chance to make a positive impact in the community while learning about Balinese culture and traditions.
Wildlife
Bali is full of fascinating wildlife, and what you see will depend on the regions you visit and the activities on your tour. You can expect a very good chance of spotting monkeys in forested areas, sea turtles on the beaches, and a variety of tropical birds throughout the islands. While sightings can’t be guaranteed, all our tours focus on ethical and sustainable wildlife experiences. Our local team carefully selects activities to ensure encounters are responsible, safe, and enjoyable for both you and the animals.
Food
Bali’s food scene is amazing! Expect a delicious mix of authentic Indonesian dishes, local Balinese specialties, and international favorites. Try classics like: Nasi Goreng: Indonesian fried rice topped with a fried egg Mie Goreng: fried noodles packed with flavor Bali offers an amazing mix of traditional Indonesian cuisine and international options, so you’ll have plenty to try during your trip. Expect local favourites such as Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Mie Goreng (fried noodles), and fresh tropical fruits. Many meals are included on your itinerary, but there will also be opportunities to explore local cafés, warungs, and restaurants on your own. Vegetarian, vegan, and milder options are widely available, so dietary preferences are easy to cater for. For a full guide to which meals are included on your tour, check the day-by-day itinerary on your tour page.
Solo? Couple? Friends?
Most of our travellers are solo, so joining a group tour is a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends along the way. Travelling alone gives you flexibility, the chance to connect with others, and the freedom to follow your own adventure. If you’re coming with a friend or partner, just let us know when you book. We’ll make sure you’re paired together in the same room so you can enjoy the trip side by side.
Accommodation
On your trip, you’ll stay in comfortable twin-share hotel rooms, paired with another traveller from your tour. Forget hostels, our hand-picked hotels offer privacy, comfort, and a touch of luxury, with air conditioning or fans, reliable WiFi, and many featuring pools, gyms, or chill-out spaces. It’s the perfect base to relax after a day of exploring, making new friends, and living your adventure to the fullest.
Free Time
While our programmes are full of unforgettable experiences, there’s still plenty of time built in to relax, explore, or do your own thing. Whether you want to lounge on a beach, wander through local markets, try out a new cafe, or just take a quiet afternoon for yourself, the choice is yours. Your guides are always happy to share insider tips and recommend hidden gems, so you can make the most of every free moment. Free time is your chance to explore at your own pace, discover local culture, and create memories that are completely your own.
Pre and Post Tour
If you’re arriving early or staying on after your programme, we can help make the most of your extra time. Extra nights of accommodation before the tour starts can be booked easily through us, just get in touch with our team. Planning to continue your adventure once your trip ends? Our travel experts can offer advice on the best destinations, routes, and experiences to extend your journey, so you can explore confidently and make the most of your time abroad.
Arrival & Transfers
We provide an airport transfer on the day your trip begins. To make things easy, aim to arrive between 9am and 5pm on the start date. Once you’ve booked your flights, be sure to share your arrival details in the Manage My Booking area so we can coordinate your pick-up. If you’re arriving outside these times, don’t worry, we can help you arrange a private transfer at your own cost. Our team will give you all the details you need to meet your driver and get to your accommodation safely and smoothly. All in-country transport throughout your trip is included, so you can relax and enjoy the journey. We handle transfers between hotels, activity locations, and any pre-arranged excursions, using buses, trains, and boats where needed. Each tour page lists the correct airport to fly into and out of, so you’ll know exactly where to arrive and depart. If you're still unsure, just chat to the team!
Luggage & Packing
Pack light, pack smart, and be ready for anything. Bring versatile clothing for warm days, cooler evenings, and temple visits. A sturdy backpack or suitcase works fine, and you’ll have opportunities to do laundry along the way. Don’t forget essentials like chargers, travel documents, and a good pair of walking shoes for exploring
Flights
Flights are not included in the trip price and will need to be booked separately. We recommend securing your place on the trip before booking flights, as availability and dates can sometimes change and flight prices can fluctuate. Once your place is confirmed, our team is happy to help with advice on the best airports to fly into, typical routes, and timings to ensure your arrival runs smoothly.
Visa & Vaccinations
Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the country you are visiting. Some destinations allow certain nationals to enter visa-free for a limited period, while others may require a visa on arrival or in advance. It is your responsibility to check the latest visa and entry requirements before travelling. You can do this via the relevant embassy or consulate website, or reach out to our team for guidance. We also recommend checking with your GP or a travel health clinic for advice on vaccinations and other health precautions for the country you are visiting. Make sure to arrange any required vaccinations well in advance to ensure a smooth start to your trip.
Group Leaders
Who are the group leaders? Your group leader is your go-to guide, mentor, and ultimate problem-solver while on tour. They know everything from hidden local spots to the best places to eat, and are there to make sure your trip runs smoothly. Think of them as your travel BFF who’s got your back 24/7. How big are the groups? Groups are kept small and social, usually between 12 and 22 travellers, so it’s easy to bond and make friends for life. You’ll meet people from all over the world, all sharing the same love of adventure and discovery. Can I get in touch with my group or leader before the trip? Yes! Around two weeks before your tour, your group leader will be added to your group WhatsApp. You’ll also be able to connect with your fellow travellers in our private destination-specific community so you can start sharing tips, hype, and travel excitement before you even arrive.
