Twenty days, three islands and a LOT to fit in. This is Bali for travellers who want to see more, stay longer and throw themselves into pretty much everything along the way. Learn to surf in Seminyak, take on white water rapids in Ubud and spend your days snorkelling around the Gili Islands in search of sea turtles. You’ll explore sacred temples, rice terraces and waterfalls, slow things down with sunset yoga and swap Bali for Lombok’s beaches before settling into island life on Gili T. But some of the best days are the ones that give something back. You’ll support turtle conservation, spend time volunteering with a local community project and learn about the care of Gili T’s horses. Add gorgeous hotels, plenty of free time and a group to share all 20 days with, and you’ve got one seriously good way to experience Indonesia.

Itinerary

From sunrise surf to sunset hangs, your Bali days are packed with unforgettable moments. Here’s the lowdown.

Day
7
Ubud
Monkey Business & Familiar Faces
We’ve got a pretty lively start to the day as we head into Ubud’s famous Sacred Monkey Forest. This jungle sanctuary is completely taken over by its resident macaques, and you won’t have to look very far to spot them! We’ll make our way through the forest and see what they’re getting up to, with plenty of monkey encounters along the way. Later, we’re heading back to the NGO learning centre for our second visit. This time, you’ll already know a few faces and have a better idea of how everything works, so you can jump straight into the day’s activities. You could be helping with English lessons, spending time in the garden, getting involved with cooking or lending a hand wherever you’re needed. Tonight is completely free, so once we’re back in Ubud, the only decision left to make is where you’re going for dinner. With this many good options around, that might actually be the hardest part of the day!

Ubud
Ubud’s Big Three
Hope you’ve got some energy left because Ubud has plenty more up its sleeve! We’re heading out for a full day of rice terraces, sacred temples and a waterfall swim. First up is the famous Tegallalang Rice Terraces. Wander between the bright green rice fields and take in the views, or, if simply looking at them isn’t quite enough excitement for you, take things up a level with the optional swings and zip-lines. Next, we’re heading to Tirta Empul, one of Bali’s most sacred temples and home to holy spring water that has been used in purification rituals for centuries. We’ll spend some time exploring and learning more about the traditions that make this place so important to Balinese culture. Then it’s time to cool off at Tegenungan Waterfall. Hidden amongst tropical greenery, the waterfall drops into the valley below, and after a full day exploring Ubud, that water is going to look very inviting. Swimwear on, jump in and finish the day with a well-earned dip!

Ubud
A Breather in Ubud
After a pretty busy few days in Ubud, today you can slow things right down. There’s nothing you have to tick off and nowhere you need to rush to, so enjoy having a full day to decide what you actually feel like doing. If you’re after a few ideas, your local guide will be around to help organise optional activities or point you towards some favourite spots. You could hunt down a local warung and order a plate of nasi goreng for lunch, spend a few hours wandering around Ubud or make your way to Cretya Day Club for infinity pools overlooking the rice terraces.

Take On the Rapids
You’ve had a relaxing day in Ubud, so naturally we’re following it up by throwing you straight into the rapids! Today, we’re heading out for a white water rafting adventure through Bali’s tropical scenery. Once everyone’s in the raft, it’s time to start paddling. Work together to tackle the twists, drops and rushing water along the route, with rainforest surrounding you and waterfalls appearing along the way. There’ll be calmer stretches to catch your breath too, which you’ll probably appreciate once the rapids get going again! By the end, you’ll be soaked, full of adrenaline and probably very ready to do the whole thing again.

Kuta Mandalika
Across the Water to Lombok
It’s time to see what’s waiting across the water! Today we’re catching the fast boat east to Lombok, an island of quiet beaches, traditional villages and a much slower pace of life. Once we arrive, we’ll hop into a minivan and make our way towards our accommodation, but there’s a stop to make first. We’ll visit a traditional Lombok village for an introduction to local life on the island, learning a little more about the culture and communities that call it home. Then it’s onwards to our new base to check in and settle in for the night. New island officially unlocked, and we’ve only just scratched the surface of this one!

Kuta Mandalika
What’s Kuta Got to Offer?
Yesterday gave you your first taste of Lombok, but today you’ve got the whole day to see what Kuta Mandalika is all about. There’s nothing set in the schedule, so whether you want to explore or take things slowly, the choice is yours. Head out in search of Lombok’s beaches, grab some food in town or find somewhere sunny and settle in for a few hours. If you’re feeling more adventurous, there are plenty of optional activities to fill your day too, so have a chat with your guide and see what takes your fancy.

Weather

No matter when you visit, Bali shines all year round. Expect warm temperatures, tropical scenery and plenty of sunshine. From April to October, the dry season brings temperatures of 27–32°C, along with blue skies, calm seas and ideal conditions for beach days, island hopping, snorkelling and Bali's famous surf breaks. Visiting between November and March? You'll still enjoy warm temperatures of 26–31°C, with the occasional tropical downpour keeping the island lush and green. The rain usually passes quickly, leaving plenty of time to get back out exploring, while quieter beaches and fewer crowds let you experience a more relaxed side of Bali.

Getting There

Starts

Your Bali Island Hopper begins at Bali Denpasar Airport (DPS). We recommend booking a flight that lands between 9:00am and 5:00pm on Day 1, where your local guide will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a FurtherTravel sign (you won't miss them!). If possible, we'd recommend arriving earlier in the day to give yourself time to settle into the hotel before the evening orientation and your first night with the group. Please note that Bali's traffic can be unpredictable, so we don't recommend arriving too late. If your flight arrives outside of the recommended pickup window, you'll need to make your own way to the hotel. Don't worry though – your local guide will be on hand in the group chat to help you arrange this. Arriving a day early? Let us know! We'd be happy to recommend somewhere to stay near the airport. You can then either return to the airport during the pickup window or meet the group at the hotel.

Ends

Your Bali Island Hopper finishes at your hotel in Seminyak on Day 20. We recommend booking a flight that departs after 12:00pm on your final day, giving you plenty of time to check out and make your own way to Bali Denpasar Airport (DPS) after your final night celebrating with the group. If you're continuing your travels, Bali is also a great place to extend your adventure, so feel free to ask us for recommendations before you go!

FAQ's
Money
The local currency in Bali is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). ATMs are widely available in towns and tourist areas, and most shops, restaurants, and hotels accept cards, though smaller markets and rural areas often prefer cash. It’s a good idea to carry a mix of cash and cards to cover meals, drinks, souvenirs, and optional activities. For convenience and to avoid high foreign exchange fees, many travellers use a travel card such as Wise or Revolut. This allows you to pay in local currency with minimal charges, and you can also withdraw cash from ATMs if needed.
Best Time to Travel
Bali enjoys warm tropical weather all year round, making it a great destination no matter when you visit. The dry season runs from April to September, offering plenty of sunshine, while the wet season from October to March brings short, refreshing tropical showers that rarely last all day. Even during the wet season, you can expect warm temperatures and plenty of opportunities to explore beaches, rice terraces, and temples. No matter when you travel, our tours are designed to make the most of the local weather, so you’ll always enjoy a mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation.
Volunteering
On your Bali adventure you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of volunteer projects. Depending on the tour you choose, this could include teaching English at a local school in Ubud, supporting a turtle sanctuary to protect and care for these incredible creatures, or visiting a horse sanctuary on Gili Trawangan to learn about animal care and rehabilitation. All volunteering experiences are carefully selected to be ethical, educational, and meaningful. They give you the chance to make a positive impact in the community while learning about Balinese culture and traditions.
Wildlife
Bali is full of fascinating wildlife, and what you see will depend on the regions you visit and the activities on your tour. You can expect a very good chance of spotting monkeys in forested areas, sea turtles on the beaches, and a variety of tropical birds throughout the islands. While sightings can’t be guaranteed, all our tours focus on ethical and sustainable wildlife experiences. Our local team carefully selects activities to ensure encounters are responsible, safe, and enjoyable for both you and the animals.
Food
Bali’s food scene is amazing! Expect a delicious mix of authentic Indonesian dishes, local Balinese specialties, and international favorites. Try classics like: Nasi Goreng: Indonesian fried rice topped with a fried egg Mie Goreng: fried noodles packed with flavor Bali offers an amazing mix of traditional Indonesian cuisine and international options, so you’ll have plenty to try during your trip. Expect local favourites such as Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Mie Goreng (fried noodles), and fresh tropical fruits. Many meals are included on your itinerary, but there will also be opportunities to explore local cafés, warungs, and restaurants on your own. Vegetarian, vegan, and milder options are widely available, so dietary preferences are easy to cater for. For a full guide to which meals are included on your tour, check the day-by-day itinerary on your tour page.
Solo? Couple? Friends?
Most of our travellers are solo, so joining a group tour is a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends along the way. Travelling alone gives you flexibility, the chance to connect with others, and the freedom to follow your own adventure. If you’re coming with a friend or partner, just let us know when you book. We’ll make sure you’re paired together in the same room so you can enjoy the trip side by side.
Accommodation
On your trip, you’ll stay in comfortable twin-share hotel rooms, paired with another traveller from your tour. Forget hostels, our hand-picked hotels offer privacy, comfort, and a touch of luxury, with air conditioning or fans, reliable WiFi, and many featuring pools, gyms, or chill-out spaces. It’s the perfect base to relax after a day of exploring, making new friends, and living your adventure to the fullest.
Free Time
While our programmes are full of unforgettable experiences, there’s still plenty of time built in to relax, explore, or do your own thing. Whether you want to lounge on a beach, wander through local markets, try out a new cafe, or just take a quiet afternoon for yourself, the choice is yours. Your guides are always happy to share insider tips and recommend hidden gems, so you can make the most of every free moment. Free time is your chance to explore at your own pace, discover local culture, and create memories that are completely your own.
Pre and Post Tour
If you’re arriving early or staying on after your programme, we can help make the most of your extra time. Extra nights of accommodation before the tour starts can be booked easily through us, just get in touch with our team. Planning to continue your adventure once your trip ends? Our travel experts can offer advice on the best destinations, routes, and experiences to extend your journey, so you can explore confidently and make the most of your time abroad.
Arrival & Transfers
We provide an airport transfer on the day your trip begins. To make things easy, aim to arrive between 9am and 5pm on the start date. Once you’ve booked your flights, be sure to share your arrival details in the Manage My Booking area so we can coordinate your pick-up. If you’re arriving outside these times, don’t worry, we can help you arrange a private transfer at your own cost. Our team will give you all the details you need to meet your driver and get to your accommodation safely and smoothly. All in-country transport throughout your trip is included, so you can relax and enjoy the journey. We handle transfers between hotels, activity locations, and any pre-arranged excursions, using buses, trains, and boats where needed. Each tour page lists the correct airport to fly into and out of, so you’ll know exactly where to arrive and depart. If you're still unsure, just chat to the team!
Luggage & Packing
Pack light, pack smart, and be ready for anything. Bring versatile clothing for warm days, cooler evenings, and temple visits. A sturdy backpack or suitcase works fine, and you’ll have opportunities to do laundry along the way. Don’t forget essentials like chargers, travel documents, and a good pair of walking shoes for exploring
Flights
Flights are not included in the trip price and will need to be booked separately. We recommend securing your place on the trip before booking flights, as availability and dates can sometimes change and flight prices can fluctuate. Once your place is confirmed, our team is happy to help with advice on the best airports to fly into, typical routes, and timings to ensure your arrival runs smoothly.
Visa & Vaccinations
Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the country you are visiting. Some destinations allow certain nationals to enter visa-free for a limited period, while others may require a visa on arrival or in advance. It is your responsibility to check the latest visa and entry requirements before travelling. You can do this via the relevant embassy or consulate website, or reach out to our team for guidance. We also recommend checking with your GP or a travel health clinic for advice on vaccinations and other health precautions for the country you are visiting. Make sure to arrange any required vaccinations well in advance to ensure a smooth start to your trip.
Group Leaders
Who are the group leaders? Your group leader is your go-to guide, mentor, and ultimate problem-solver while on tour. They know everything from hidden local spots to the best places to eat, and are there to make sure your trip runs smoothly. Think of them as your travel BFF who’s got your back 24/7. How big are the groups? Groups are kept small and social, usually between 12 and 22 travellers, so it’s easy to bond and make friends for life. You’ll meet people from all over the world, all sharing the same love of adventure and discovery. Can I get in touch with my group or leader before the trip? Yes! Around two weeks before your tour, your group leader will be added to your group WhatsApp. You’ll also be able to connect with your fellow travellers in our private destination-specific community so you can start sharing tips, hype, and travel excitement before you even arrive.
